We are looking for a dedicated and technically skilled academic employee for development of advanced investigation of ancient DNA in environmental samples.

The Section for GeoGenetics at the Globe institute offers a busy and stimulating working environment, with a high degree of flexibility and a strong tradition for collaboration. Headed by Prof. Eske Willerslev, the GeoGenetics Center has been world-leading in ancient- and environmental genomics and for over a decade.

Your job Analysis of DNA from environmental samples has enormous potential for studies in paleo-ecology, climate change, conservation biology etc. However, although metagenomic analyses of eDNA samples is extremely powerful, analysis of rare ancient species (ancient DNA fragments) is technically and computationally challenging. The position is opened to explore various wet lab methods that can alleviate these technical challenges generating meta genomic data for selected species or taxa.

Place of employment The place of employment is at the University of Copenhagen, Globe Institute, GeoGenetics in Central Copenhagen (Øster Voldgade 5-7, København K). Terms of employment The position is a full-time and permanent position as an Academic employee FU. The starting date is 1 November 2023. The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
