The Roles: ​

BrightDrop Analytics

Interns will be responsible for developing and maintaining BrightDrop's Azure Analytics platform, including the cloud infrastructure software. They will be expected to learn and use sound, repeatable, industry best practices and following data analytics methodologies as they are coached by more senior developers. The interns will work hands-on developing or enhancing KPIs to help BrightDrop measure progress towards its OKRs. The role includes performing data integration, building reports, performing “WhatIf” analysis or solutions based on detailed requirements and specifications and assisting with troubleshooting and fixing bugs. Development activities may include updating existing integrations, data objects, developing reports, or developing new software solutions to address a specific business problem. patterns/frameworks.

IT Integration Technologies

As an IT Integration Technologies Intern, you will be immersed in the dynamic world of integrating diverse technologies and systems to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. This internship is designed to offer you hands-on experience in tackling complex technical challenges and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your main responsibilities will revolve around technical integration work, where you will be expected to learn and have the opportunity to be hands-on:

Integration Planning: Collaborate with senior IT staff to plan and strategize technical integration projects, identifying key objectives, scope, and resources required

API Integration: Assist in integrating various applications and systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability between different platforms

Data Mapping and Transformation: Work with data analysts and developers to map data elements between systems and assist in data transformation to ensure data consistency and accuracy during the integration process

Middleware Configuration: Help configure middleware solutions to enable smooth communication and data exchange between applications and services

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during the integration process, collaborating with the IT team to find effective solutions

Testing and Validation: Conduct testing and validation of integrated systems to ensure functionality, data integrity, and adherence to business requirements

Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including integration specifications, diagrams, and test plans, to facilitate effective communication and knowledge transfer

Collaborative Projects: Participate in cross-functional projects that involve technical integration, working closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders

Technology Research: Stay up to date with emerging integration technologies and industry best practices, contributing insights and suggestions for enhancing integration processes

Additional Description

Required Qualifications (both roles):

Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Statistics

Must be graduating between December 2024 - June 2026

Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week, and on-site 2-3 days per work in our Palo Alto, CA office

Preferred Technical Skills - BrightDrop Analytics:

Project experience with our technologies: PowerBI, Azure Synapse, Python, Database, Terraform or similar cloud-based technologies.

Good understanding of Agile software practices

Strong Computer Science fundamentals

Experience with at least one of the public cloud Analytics solutions: Azure, Databricks, Snowflake

Relational DBs, like Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle

NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, Bigtable, HBase, Cassandra

Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless, CloudFormation

Prior internship in software or analytics development

Preferred Technical Skills - IT Integration Technologies:

Project experience developing either web or mobile applications or a reasonably complex cloud-based solution

Good understanding of Agile software practices

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an inclination towards detail-oriented work

Understanding of API concepts and familiarity with web services (REST, SOAP, etc.)

Knowledge of data formats such as JSON and XML

Programming skills in languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, etc. for Web service/API development

Familiarity with integration / cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure, MuleSoft, SAP Integration Suite and others

Data transformation languages (XSLT, Liquid, etc.)

This role offers the following Work Appropriately strategies:

Hybrid : Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the ​employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.​

Pay Transparency Language (Compensation)

The salary range for this role is $4000-$6600, dependent upon class status and degree.​

Student Stipend: GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2024 Student Program.
